Luke Schwartz Banned From All EPT Events This Season
October 7, 2009 9:00 amControversial poker player Luke “_FullFlush1” Schwartz has been banned from competing in the remainder of the European Poker Tour (EPT) season after a dispute with a casino over a £3 sandwich.
Schwartz had just been knocked out of the £5,000 buy-in EPT London event at the Hilton Metropole when he decided to order a sandwich. On being asked to pay Schwartz apparently flew into a rage, refused to pay for the sandwich and said that he was “a VIP and should be treated as one.” The end result was Schwartz being escorted from the premises and being banned from the casino and EPT events for the remainder of the season.
This latest incident follows a similar ban from an EPT event when last month he refused to remove his hat at the Vic Casino in London. Tv poker producer Eddie Hearn managed to have the ban on Schwartz withdrawn after he stuck his neck out for his friend and vouched it wouldn’t happen again. That was all wishful thinking as the outspoken poker player can’t seem to help but cause controversy wherever he goes.
The 25-year-old Londoner is well known for his verbal tirade against Tom Dwan whom he has described as ‘geeky’, and ‘gay’. “I just can’t stand him,” Schwartz said. ” I hate watching him on that new High Stakes Poker and seeing him dominate so badly. He’s such a cringeworthy guy. It’s all too geeky. I just can’t handle it.”
In fact Schwartz had his chat banned on Full Tilt Poker for his unmannerly comments and so left the site, “It was bullshit. It’s because they just side with their little regulars. If durrrr’s rude to me, that’s fine, but if I’m rude back – the slightest bit harsh – I get instant chatback. It’s painful.”
Other players who have been on the receiving end of Schwartz’s abuse include Benyamine who he describes as ‘atrocious’, Di ‘urindanger’ Dang described as a ‘nitty, bum hunter’, and Antonius as ‘golden trollocks’.
Despite his obnoxious and cocky personality there is no denying his success at the poker table having made over $1 million online in the last year alone. He has even acknowledged that he’s ‘cocky, arrogant and loudmouthed with an inflated ego’ but says in his defence:
“Yes, I am. Why not? Poker’s just full of geeks at the moment. You need a villain in the game, otherwise the game’s just dead. Currently poker revolves around durrrr and his geeky friends all trying to feed off Gus. How is that anything to hero worship?”
