Eric Cloutier Accidentally Sells Wife's $23k Ring At Boot Sale

Eric Cloutier Accidentally Sells Wife's $23k Ring At Boot SaleAs a poker pro Eric Cloutier spends his days trying to minimize his mistakes in order to maximize his profits at the tables. Nevertheless, Cloutier ended up making a huge howler recently which not only cost him at least $23,000, but succeeded in reducing his wife to tears, as well.
You see, while Cloutier’s wife, Racquel, was in the hospital, her dutiful husband Eric decided to hold a garage sale in order to help tidy their home up, but accidentally ended up selling her $23,000 wedding ring for just $10 at a community garage sale, instead. Unfortunately, before going into hospital Racquel, 31, placed her ring in a box so as to be out of reach of her 2-year-old twins leading to the bizarre mistake.
After returning back from the hospital, Racquel then explains: “I go into my husband’s closet, can’t find the box, and then he tells me he sold it. I said, ‘You sold it? What do you mean you sold it?’ I immediately started crying. I’m very, very, very upset. I’m trying to remain optimistic but I don’t know anymore. There’s a small chance whoever bought the box doesn’t know the ring is in there.”
The chances of the “shady” lady who reportedly bought the ring subsequently returning the item would seem pretty slim, and in the meantime Eric Cloutier, who has earned more than $550,000 from poker tournaments, says he is now considering heading to the World Series of Poker underway in Las Vegas.
Since the bizarre story broke, members of the poker community have been having their say and here are a couple of the comments mentioned on CardPlayer:
TheFly: “That’s the story I would tell also if I had to pawn my wifes ring while she was in the hospital because I was broke and desperate for cash. “Honest mistake honey, I swear”.”
bparmalee: “So the woman that bought it is shady how exactly? I actually feel bad for her. This will only force her to go to more garage sales in hopes of getting lucky again. That’s a lot of early weekends.”
