William Hill Sponsors Scotland Football Team
August 31, 2012 11:55 amAs well as having a thriving online business, UK bookmaker and gaming company William Hill also operates 2,364 betting shops across the UK, 300 of which are in Scotland. Now, the company has further reaffirmed its strong ties with Scotland and Scottish football after signing a deal to sponsor the Scottish national team for the next two years, a move that will see William Hill benefit from exclusive sponsorship and advertising right for the Scottish team.
Following announcement of the deal, William Hill Chief Marketing Officer, Kristof Fahy, commented: “It’s really exciting to be involved with the Scottish national team. The road to Rio is going to be fascinating – and we’re hoping to support the Scottish national team all the way to a place in the World Cup finals in 2014.”
William Hill already sponsors the Scottish Premier League, and recently also signed a three-year partnership deal to sponsor the Scottish Cup, the oldest national trophy in the world dating back to 1873. Highlighting the important relationship between Wiliam Hill and Scottish football, President of the Scottish FA, Campbell Ogilvie, commented:
“We’re delighted to have williamhill.com as an official supporter of our national team. They’ve already shown a strong commitment to Scottish football – with their sponsorship of the William Hill Scottish Cup and their partnership with the SPL, and this further cements their position as one of the biggest supporters of Scottish football.”
Scotland holds the joint title of the world’s oldest national football team, along with England who back in 1872 played Scotland in the world’s very first international football match. Interestingly, William Hill also is the sponsors of the English Football Association, the FA Cup and the England national team, and has a deal in place until 2014.
William Hill was first established in 1934 and now employs around 16,600 people worldwide. The company currently has a market capitalization value of £1.93 billion.
