Forgetful Poker Pro Leaves $300k In Back Of Taxi

Forgetful Poker Pro Leaves $300k In Back Of TaxiOn Monday, 23rd December, a forgetful poker pro gave a Las Vegas cab driver a huge surprise after leaving a brown paper bag containing $300,000 in cash on the back seat of his vehicle. All that is known about the owner of the cash is that he is a 28-year-old famous professional poker player, and that he initially felt completely devastated at his potential huge blunder.
Lucky for the poker pro, though, on discovering the surprise package the Yellow Check Star cabbie Gerardo Gamboa (photo) immediately contacted his dispatcher before handing it over to the company’s main office. The police were subsequently called and eventually the owner located and the money returned to the rightful owner. Commenting on the bizarre situation, cab firm CEO Bill Shranko, explained:
“We had to be as a company extremely cautious that the right person got the money. It’s the Christmas season and we think it’s the best story that I’ve seen in 32 years, and cab drivers worldwide are going to be very proud..[the poker pro] wasn’t mad or aggressive ..Maybe a little more embarrassed than anything. I mean, he left $300,000 in a cab, but he was an awesome guy.”
Originally, cabbie Gerardo Gamboa drove the poker pro from the Cosmopolitan casino-hotel to the Palms Place two miles away and received a $5 tip for his services. After the cabbie returned to the Las Vegas Strip to collect his next customer, the bag was discovered and so Gamboa then took the $300k fortune to his company’s office. Meanwhile, the poker pro was on his way to cab company looking for his bundle, and after a four-hour police investigation, the money was returned to him.
So far, there are no indications as to whether Gamboa received a reward from the poker player, but Yellow Check Star has since given the cabbie a $1,000 reward, and named him driver of the year.
“I did the right thing, that’s it. They call us sin city. But it’s not. It’s angel city,” commented cabbie Gerardo Gamboa.
