Woman Wins $1.4 Million Slots Jackpot At Mohegan Sun

One lucky lady has been celebrating her incredible fortune after winning a $1.4 million slots jackpot at the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut.
Mother of four Gabriel Brin-Martin, 47, found herself with some free time on her hands Monday after packing her children off to school, and so decided to head to the Mohegan for some rest and recreation.
Gabriel had started playing the Star Wars Wide Area Progressive slot at around 2 pm and was already up $350 half an hour later when events took a turn for the surreal. The slot’s wheels suddenly clicked together, the machine lit up and
a message saying “Call attendant for verification” started flashing up on the screen.
As she explains: “I knew I won something, but I didn’t know what it was…I still don’t believe it. It hasn’t sunk in yet. I didn’t sleep all last night. That’s a lot of money – a lot of money.”
In fact, Brin-Martin won the life changing sum of $1,427,870 at the casino and her massive win couldn’t have come at a better time. The money will now help the mother of four to relieve her financial burden after having to have taken time off work recently suffering with back problems.
In addition, Brin-Martin’s German mother has been diagnosed with terminal cancer in her home town of Bremen, and her daughter says she will now use some of the money to care for her ailing 69 year-old mother.
Gabriel Brin-Martin moved to the area in 1984 after marrying a US soldier, to whom she is now divorced. Gabriel’s four children are Rachel, 23, Erika, 14, Zachary, 10, and Luke, 3.
In a final twist to the story, Brin-Martin won the huge jackpot on the birthday of her youngest son Luke. Luke Skywalker was also the lead protagonist in the movie classic Star Wars, which was also the name of the slots Gabriel won the money on. Finally, when posing for the casino cameras Brin-Martin was given a light saber to hold, similar to the one she bought Luke on his birthday.
It would seem all her ‘stars’ were in alignment then, for her big win.
