Unemployed Man Turns $10 Bet Into $1.3 Million At Hard Rock Casino

Unemployed Man Turns $10 Bet Into $1.3 Million At Hard Rock CasinoAn unemployed man has been celebrating his good fortune after hitting a $1.3 million progressive jackpot at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, last week.
Originally from the Virgin Islands, Cory McAlpin (29) enjoys visiting the Hard Rock casino two or three times a month, and usually in the early hours of the morning because, as he explains, “there’s less traffic, and it’s easier to get to your game.”
On Thursday May 20th at 2 a.m., McAlpin said he felt wide awake after a brief sleep and so, recalling his $4,500 win the previous night, decided to chance his luck once more at the Florida casino.
A few hours later, at 4:35 a.m., the Tampa man found himself around $600 down, and had started for the exit of the casino when he decided to stick one last bet into his favourite slot machine the Wheel of Fortune, on the way out.
That certainly would prove to be the best $10 investment he ever made, as shortly after he found himself hitting the slots progressive jackpot worth an incredible $1,311,909. Being of a self professed humble disposition, Cory said he briefly considered running away after hitting the jackpot as he thought all the “attention might be a bit much.”
Of course that wasn’t going to happen though, and before long he was was offered refreshments and later a hotel room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, while he recovered from the excitement.
Cory McAlpin said his family, who were already financially secure, were delighted for him and that he was now hoping, in light of his grandmother’s Alzheimer and his fathers cancer related death, to donating some of the money towards worthy causes such as medical research, and the St. Croix church in the Virgin Islands.
For now, though, he said he was looking forward to taking a college friend on an all-expenses paid vacation.
