Royal Flush Nets Lucky Poker Player $195,423 Jackpot
April 11, 2010 11:19 amOne lucky player at the Magic City Casino Poker Room in Florida was celebrating his good fortune after making a Royal Flush at the casino for a whopping $195,423 pay day.
Leonides Lopez Martinez is a long time member of Miami’s Magic City Casino, but with the odds of actually making the top hand in poker at 649,739 to 1, the thoughts of hitting such a long shot jackpot would have been the furthest from his mind as he entered the Florida card rooms on Saturday, April 3,2010.
Martinez had started playing $1-$2 no limit hold’em when he was dealt the Ace and King of Spades as his hole cards. As the Ks-Qs-Js was dealt by the dealer, Martinez was assured of winning the pot he was in but the additional $195,423 awarded by the casino as a Royal Flush jackpot must have come as a tremendous surprise to the recreational poker player.
The casino in Miami is the only one currently offering the Vegas style Royal Flush jackpot and amazingly enough it had been won only a few months earlier on January 13, 2010. Then, Michael Lucas won $194,803 for his 649,739 to 1 winning hand and now with the casino’s latest winner, Chief Operating Officer of Magic City Casino Scott Savin commented:
“To make history in the state of Florida twice in a matter of three months is tremendous. There’s nothing like having big winners, and being able to say that we broke the very record we set is very exciting.”
After Leonides Lopez Martinez’ impressive win, the progressive jackpot was reset and is now currently standing at over $108,000.
