Punter Keeps $1m Casino Prize After Bizarre Names Mix-up

Punter Keeps $1m Casino Prize After Bizarre Names Mix-upIn Shakespeare’s play ‘Romeo and Juliet’, the female protagonists states: “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”
The Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati may disagree, however, as Saturday at the gambling venue proved a very lucrative day to specifically be called Kevin Lewis. You see, by chance, there were actually two unrelated Kevin Lewis’ in the casino that night, but by the time the casino realised it had handed out its ‘Summer Giveaway’ prize worth $1 million to the wrong one, he had already collected his money, spoken to the media and accepted congratulations from his fellow guests.
Nevertheless, after such an embarassingly monumental howler it didn’t take long for the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati to bite the bullet and decide to grant both Kevin Lewis’ the huge jackpot. As the casino’s Senior VP Kevin Kline, explains: ” This was our blunder. So, consistent with our commitment to do the right thing for our guests, Horseshoe awarded a $1 million dollar prize to each of the men.”
The $1 million prize was actually part of a ‘$3 Million Summer Giveaway’ promotion organised by Horseshoe casinos in Cleveland and Cincinnati, in which each city will hand out three $1 million prizes over the summer season. With the bizarre mistake made by the Horseshoe casino, however, its Ohio properties have upped the promtion and will now be offering a total of seven prizes instead of the planned six.
The two Kevin Lewis’ of Cincinnati now join Reatha Jenkins as the state’s newest millionaires, with the final drawing taking place on Sunday, September 1st.
“We’ll be giving away a final million dollar prize over Labor Day weekend as promised at the beginning of the Summer Giveaway promotion,” explained VP Kevin Kline. “No matter what your name is, it’s not too late to enter!”
