Poker Bad Beat Jackpot Hit For £222,000 At The Empire in London

The bad beat jackpot launched in February at The Empire in Leicester Sq, London, has finally been won after reaching an impressive £222,000 ($347,800).
The event took place at the casino’s £1-£2 table, where eight players had been playing for several hours into the night before the crucial hand was dealt.
The first players holding A-5o limped into the pot pre-flop and was raised by Rupert Graham holding a pair of pocket 6’s. Halit Avoyli then made a small three bet holding pocket Kings and was called by both players.
With the flop falling K-6-3 making both players a set, the first player took a stab at the pot and bet out £20, only to be re-raised by Rupert Graham to £50 before Halit Avoyli shoved his remaining £250.
Amazingly, the first player called with his terrible hand forcing a tough decision from Rupert Graham, who eventually completed after having the clock called on him.
The cards were then flipped and a 6 on the turn made four sixes for Rupert Graham while working the gathered crowd into a frenzy, who then proceeded to call for a king on the river.
However, the odds were firmly against that happening as the chances of being dealt four of a kind is 4,165 to one and the only hand which could beat it is a higher 4 of a kind, a straight flush at odds of 72,192 to one, and a Royal Flush at 649,739 to one.
Nevertheless, the crowd soon got their wish and a miracle King on the river made Halit Avoyli quods, with his Kings winning the hand and the £650 pot.
That was just the start of the celebrations, though, the upshot of which meant Rupert Graham received £111,000 for the indignity of losing with four of a kind, Avoyli was awarded an impressive £55,000 for the winning hand, while the remaining six players at the table received £7,500 each for just being there.
In addition, another eight players on the next table each received £1,400 for playing poker in the room when the bad beat jackpot was struck.
Commenting on the remarkable event, Club Director at the Empire, Hoan Tran said:
“We are proud to introduce this jackpot as a one of a kind in the UK – we are ecstatic that it’s been won, at long last, especially to a loyal customer!”
