Ohio Woman Wins $1m At Cleveland Casino

Ohio Woman Wins $1m At Cleveland CasinoAn Ohio woman couldn’t believe her good fortune after being awarded $1 million as part of the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland Summer Giveaway.
Heidi Briggs, 54, and her husband have been visiting the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland since it first opened in 2012, and said they enjoy people watching and playing the low-stakes slot machines. “We’re not high rollers by any means,” explained Heidi.
On Thursday, however, Heidi Briggs, got the surprise of her life after visiting the casino located in downtown Cleveland and being entered into the Summer Giveaway contest using her Total Rewards card. The high school guidance counselor was subsequently relaxing with her husband when her name was mentioned over the tannoy announcing she had just been awarded the $1 million prize.
At first the high school guidance counselor said she couldn’t be sure it was actually her name that had been called out and as she explains: “I think I stood up, I sat down, I stood up. I didn’t know what to do it was just, I couldn’t believe it was true.”
However, there was no room for doubt after a casino manager managed to locate her and after he announced her as the winner the whole place erupted in cheers and chanting of her name.
Despite her life-changing win, Heidi says she will not alter her lifestyle and still intends to take up her new position at a New Philadelphia school in two weeks time. Heidi Briggs and her husband said they would now use some of the winnings to pay off the mortgage on their house and put some money aside for their retirement. They said they would also give some money to their two daughters and two grandchildren.
Nevertheless, her family, too, had difficulty believing the news and as Heidi explains: “When my husband told them, they were shocked. They thought he was pulling their leg.”
