Michigan Man Wins $7.2m Slots Jackpot
February 17, 2013 1:37 pmOn Friday, a Michigan man won a staggering $7,217,175 playing the penny slots at the Palace Casino Resort in Mississippi.
Apparently, Tyler Morris had attended his friend’s funeral earlier that day and only decided to give the penny slots a go in memory of his friend’s favourite gambling game. Playing the slots was certainly a change in routine for Mr Morris, who said his game of choice is usually craps. Nevertheless, his decision was a life-changing one as his bumper win now opens up a whole world of possibilities for the Montague, Michigan man and his family.
Mr Morris struck the progressive jackpot at around 10:30 p.m, while playing The Lord of The Rings slot, a machine with a maximum bet of $3.50. After being presented with his enormous cheque for $7,217,175, Mr Morris subsequently confided in Palace Casino PR manager Lisa Quirch, that he felt his friend had somehow influenced the life-changing event, with the manager explaining:
“Tyler said he felt his friend was watching over him and had blessed him with the big win.”
As to what Tyler Morris intends to do with his new found wealth, paying off some bills was certainly high on the list. Mr Tyler and his wife had apparently bought a new car earlier in the week in order to make the trip to his friend’s funeral in South Mississippi, which they will now pay off with part of the winnings. The roof of their weather vanes and house numbers manufacturing business will also receive some much needed repairs. In addition, the couple said they’ll spend some of the money on their children, granddaughter and soon-to-be grand-baby.
Following his incredible win, the progressive jackpot has since been reset to $200,000.
