Incredible $7.3 Million Slots Jackpot Hit In Atlantic City

A Trenton, Mercer County man is celebrating his unbelievable good fortune after winning a staggering $7,355,381 while playing the slots at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City.
The anonymous man, identified simply as “Tom”, was playing a progressive $5 Wheel of Fortune machine at 9:05 in the morning, when he hit the enormous jackpot in Harrah’s Diamond Cove slot section.
The $7,355,381 progressive jackpot is linked to a whole network of other similar slots in Atlantic City’s 11 casino and is actually the second biggest ever paid out in the casino’s history.
Harrah’s opened its casino doors on November 23rd, 1980 and “Tom” said he was actually present at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City on its opening night all those years ago. Amazingly he has now won the huge sum of money on exactly the 30th anniversary of the casino.
Commenting on Tom’s win, the casino’s senior vice president Jay Snowden said:
“We have some of the most loyal customers in the world and it is even more rewarding that this jackpot winner has been a patron to our casino and part of the Harrah’s family for 30 years.”
Understandably, Tom wished to remain anonymous and declined to speak to reporters. He did, however, say that he considered the casino his “second home” and that he intended to treat himself to a 1967 Camaro with some of his winnings.
Tom, who is not married, said he would also spend some of the money on extended family and friends.
Tom’s win falls around $3 million short of the biggest jackpot ever won at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City. That record is still held by an 84-year-old retired great-grandmother by the name of Josephine Crawford, who scooped over $10 million playing a progressive nickel slot in April 2006.
Incidentally, the biggest slots jackpot ever awarded was won by a 25-year-old Los Angeles software engineer, who was in Las Vegas to watch an NCAA basketball game. The man had put three $1 coins into the progressive Megabucks Jackpot at the Excalibur hotel-casino before hitting a staggering $38.7 million jackpot..
