Bad Beat Poker Jackpot Hit At Hard Rock Tampa For $327,221
October 1, 2010 10:37 amPaul Trianosky of Mountain City, Tennessee was celebrating his ‘bad luck’ on Sunday after scooping the Seminole Casinos Mega Bad Beat Jackpot, worth an incredible $327,221.
Trianosky (pictured left) had been playing poker at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, when he found himself involved in a pot holding one of the strongest hands in the game.
With the chances of hitting four of a kind just 1 in 4,165 Trianosky must have felt fairly confident his four Kings were ahead of his opponent’s holding. However, the player’s emotions went from surprise to elation after his opponent flipped his cards over to reveal a 1 in 72,193.33 shot straight flush.
With the casino awarding a prize to compensate for the the indignity of losing with an apparently unbeatable hand, Trianosky automatically received 50% of the $327,221 Mega Bad Beat Jackpot worth an impressive $163,608.
Other players receiving a share of the prize included the hand’s winner Michael Gisondi of Hawthorne, Florida, (pictured right) whose 6-high heart straight flush earned him 30% of the casino’s jackpot for $98,265.
In addition, the other six players at the table during the hand each received $10,908 a piece merely for being there.
Previously the Seminole Casinos awarded the jackpot exclusively from their own poker rooms but on December 1, 2009 they introduced the Mega Bad Beat Jackpot which included the accumulated total from all six Seminole Poker Rooms in the State of Florida.
The Mega Bad Beat Jackpot has proved to be a great success ever since and with the latest winners, 20 jackpots have been awarded in total over the past 10 months to the tune of $4,213,083.
