Alabama Woman Wins $180,000 Jackpot At Mississippi Casino

Alabama Woman Wins $180,000 Jackpot At Mississippi Casino One lucky lady from Anniston, Alabama, has been  celebrating the best possible start to 2014, after winning two slot machine jackpots on two consecutive days for a combined payout of $180,000.
On New Year’s Day, Charlotte Moncrief hit her first $90,000 jackpot whilst playing the Triple Diamond slot machine at Silver Star Hotel & Casino in Mississippi. Commenting on her first win, she then explains:
“There was a lot of jackpots going off, so I just decided to put $100 in a $100 machine. The first pull, I got $90,000. Isn’t that good? It was awesome and I was completely shocked. Until you hit a big jackpot like this, you never know how it is. I certainly never thought it would be me.”
However, Charlotte’s good fortune was not to end there and the following morning she then returned to the casino to play her bonus bets, and after choosing a Triple Diamond slot machine like the previous day’s winner, she then struck the same identical payout as she had hit before for a further $90,000.
Retired Charlotte Moncrief had previously worked as an IT person at an Anniston foundry, and in her spare time enjoyed visiting the Pearl River Resort at least once a month over the past eight years. Asked what she now intends to do with her new-found wealth, Charlotte, replied: “That’s just a once-in-a-lifetime thing..the wins won’t change anything about 2014, but it made me happy. I don’t know what I’ll do with it, but I’ll be going back to Pearl River some. And I may get a car, who knows?”
Apparently, the Pearl River Resort traditionally serves up black-eyed peas and collard greens on New Year’s Day, a recipe believed in the South to bring good luck and prosperity for the year ahead. As the Pearl River Resort Executive Chef, Tracy Castleman, explains; “we made sure that we had a large quantity of the good luck favorites on our Southern style buffet menu for all to enjoy.”
